Operating a water or wastewater treatment facility requires consistent technical expertise, disciplined process management, and reliable access to chemicals, consumables, and spare parts. For many organisations, maintaining this capability in-house is neither practical nor cost-efficient.
GWT’s Operations and Management Contract places full responsibility for facility performance in the hands of an experienced team that has been designing, building, and operating water treatment systems across the UAE and MENA since 1992. Under this contract, GWT manages all aspects of daily operations, routine and preventive maintenance, regulatory compliance, consumables supply, and performance reporting.
Clients retain ownership of the facility while GWT takes accountability for keeping it running to the agreed performance standard. The result is reliable, compliant water treatment output without the overhead of managing a specialised operational team internally.
What the Contract Covers
Daily Operations Management GWT’s operators manage the facility on a day-to-day basis, covering system startup and shutdown procedures, process monitoring and adjustment, chemical dosing management, and response to operational events. All activities follow documented operating procedures aligned with the system’s design parameters and regulatory requirements.
Operational staffing levels are agreed at the contract stage based on the size, complexity, and criticality of the facility. GWT provides qualified operators with direct experience across the treatment technologies in use at the client’s site.
Process Monitoring and Performance Reporting Continuous monitoring of key process parameters including flow rates, pressures, pH, turbidity, conductivity, and chemical dosing levels. Performance data is recorded, reviewed, and reported to the client on an agreed schedule.
Regular performance reports provide a clear picture of system output, energy consumption, chemical usage, and maintenance activity. Any deviations from target parameters are identified, investigated, and resolved promptly, with findings communicated to the client as part of the reporting cycle.
Preventive Maintenance A structured preventive maintenance programme covers all major system components including pumps, membranes, filters, instrumentation, electrical equipment, and control systems. Maintenance tasks are scheduled based on manufacturer recommendations, operational hours, and condition monitoring findings.
Preventive maintenance reduces the frequency and severity of unplanned failures, extends equipment service life, and keeps the system operating within design parameters. All maintenance activities are documented and included in the periodic reports provided to the client.
Corrective Maintenance and Fault Response When unplanned failures or process deviations occur, GWT’s team responds promptly to diagnose the fault, source replacement parts or materials, and restore system operation. Local spare parts and consumables inventory means response times are minimised and extended downtime is avoided.
For complex faults requiring specialist input, GWT’s engineering team provides technical support to the site operations team, ensuring the right expertise is applied to resolve the issue without delay.
Chemicals and Consumables Management GWT manages the procurement, storage, handling, and dosing of all process chemicals and consumables required for facility operation. This includes antiscalants, coagulants, biocides, cleaning chemicals, disinfection agents, filter cartridges, membrane elements, and UV lamps.
Chemical dosing is monitored and adjusted based on source water quality and system performance data. Consumable stock levels are managed to ensure continuous availability without the client needing to track procurement independently.
Regulatory Compliance All operational activities are carried out in accordance with applicable local and international standards. GWT’s team manages compliance monitoring, maintains required operational records, and supports the client in meeting reporting obligations to regulatory authorities.
Where regulatory standards change during the contract period, GWT advises the client and recommends any operational or system adjustments required to maintain compliance.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Management Site operations are conducted in accordance with GWT’s health, safety, and environmental management systems, which are certified to ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015. Safe work practices, chemical handling procedures, and emergency response protocols are applied consistently across all managed facilities.
