Build Operate Transfer (BOT)
GWT designs, builds, and operates your water or wastewater treatment facility, then transfers full ownership once the system is performing to agreed standards. Full project performance without upfront ownership responsibility.
Full Lifecycle Delivery. Ownership on Your Terms.
The BOT model is designed for clients who need a fully operational water or wastewater treatment facility but prefer to defer ownership until the system is built, commissioned, and proven in operation.
GWT takes complete responsibility for the project from feasibility and engineering through construction, commissioning, and day-to-day operations. Once the facility meets agreed performance benchmarks and the contract term is fulfilled, ownership transfers to the client with the system running at full capacity and maintained to a verified standard.
This model removes the technical, operational, and financial risk from the client during the most complex stages of a project, while ensuring they ultimately receive a facility that is ready to operate independently.
How the BOT Model Works
01
Feasibility and Engineering
GWT’s engineering team conducts a thorough assessment of the project requirements including source water quality, treatment objectives, site conditions, flow volumes, and regulatory standards. Front-End Engineering Design establishes the full technical scope before construction begins.
02
Build
GWT manages the complete construction of the treatment facility. This includes civil works, mechanical and electrical installation, equipment procurement and fabrication, instrumentation, control systems, and all works required to bring the facility to operational readiness. All construction is carried out to GWT’s quality management standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
03
Operate
Following commissioning, GWT operates the facility for the agreed contract period. Daily operations, routine maintenance, performance monitoring, consumables supply, and regulatory compliance are all managed by GWT’s team. The client receives consistent, reliable water treatment output without managing the complexity of day-to-day plant operations.
04
Transfer
At the conclusion of the contract term, and once agreed performance criteria are met, full ownership and operational responsibility for the facility transfers to the client. GWT supports the transition with comprehensive documentation, operator training, and handover assistance to ensure continuity of performance after transfer.
Why Choose the BOT Model
No Upfront Capital Requirement The BOT structure removes the need for the client to fund design, construction, and commissioning costs at the outset. GWT carries the project investment through the build and operate phases, with ownership transferring once performance is established.
Single Point of Accountability GWT is responsible for the facility across all phases, design, construction, operation, and transfer. Clients deal with one partner throughout the project lifecycle, with clear accountability at every stage.
Performance-Backed Handover Ownership only transfers after agreed performance benchmarks are met. Clients receive a facility that has been proven in operation, not just built and handed over on paper.
Reduced Operational Risk During the operate phase, GWT manages all technical and operational risk. Maintenance, compliance, consumables, and staffing are GWT’s responsibility. The client receives the output of the facility without managing its day-to-day complexity.
Long-Term Sustainability GWT’s operational team applies the same standards during the operate phase as during construction. Systems are maintained to perform reliably across the full contract period, ensuring the facility transferred to the client is in optimal condition.
