CPECC Demineralisations Water Package
The Challenge
At the Majnoon Oil Field in Basra, river water with high levels of suspended solids and dissolved salts posed a major obstacle. The client required a reliable water treatment solution to provide consistent, high-quality water for oilfield operations. Harsh site conditions and variable feedwater quality demanded a system that was both robust and modular, capable of meeting strict performance standards while remaining simple to operate and maintain.

GWT Solution
Gulf Water Treatment delivered a fully containerized and modular desalination package designed to meet the demanding conditions of an oilfield environment. The system was engineered as a complete water treatment chain, beginning with robust pre-treatment that combined coagulation, sedimentation, and multimedia filtration to effectively remove suspended solids and lower the risk of membrane fouling. This created a stable feedwater stream suitable for high-efficiency desalination.
At the heart of the system, a two-stage reverse osmosis configuration was implemented to maximize recovery rates and ensure consistent permeate quality. The design enabled the plant to produce water with salinity levels below 500 mg/L, well within the stringent limits required for oilfield operations. Post-treatment safeguards further enhanced water quality, with UV sterilization providing microbial protection and chemical dosing systems ensuring scale control, pH balance, and overall process stability.
What made the solution particularly effective was its containerized and modular structure. All equipment, including pre-treatment units, RO skids, and dosing systems, was pre-assembled in high-cube containers equipped with thermal insulation, air-conditioning, and exhaust systems. This approach minimized site construction work and allowed for rapid deployment while guaranteeing reliable operation in the harsh climate of southern Iraq. Coupled with PLC-based automation, the plant offered real-time monitoring and process optimization, enabling stable, trouble-free performance over the long term.
